The Hour is BBC's new show starring Ben Whishaw, Romola Garai, and Dominic West. There's a couple of plot lines moving--one involving a new topical news show that Garai's character produces with Whishaw and West as writer and news anchor respectively, and another involving a mysterious blood-tainted murder that Whishaw pursues.
I've watched the first two episodes, and I love it. What's it got going for it?
- British accents (I'm a sucker)
- Great cast (Ben Whishaw is a spunky little reporter, and it's fun to watch him push other people's patience. Romola Garai's acting is much improved since her Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights days.)
- That 1950s vibe everyone is going for nowadays. People have compared the show to Mad Men (which I haven't watched much of to be honest), but I think the writing in The Hour is far superior to Mad Men's.
